Rick Stitzel, renowned jazz musician and 1965 ACHS graduate, will join the ACHS Jazz Band and Nouveau Quartet for a concert at 7 p.m. on March 13, 2018 in the ACHS Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
“I am honored to be part of such a great night of jazz and I feel so fortunate to be able to offer it to our community,” Hans Judd, ACMS Band Director, said.
Before the concert, students will spend the day participating in a clinic with Stitzel. He’s been active in jazz education for over 30 years and is a performer, composer, arranger and author.
ACHS Band Director Chris VanGilder said he, Judd, and the students are very fortunate to have the opportunity provided by V.J. Wilkins Foundation and USD 470.
“To be able to work with a world class performer, composer, and educator who is also an ACHS graduate is a special honor and we are all looking forward to an outstanding concert,” VanGilder said.
“Our guests are absolutely top-notch musicians and educators. It will be an invaluable experience from which our students will learn a great deal and a show they will likely never forget,” Judd added.
