Dear USD 470 Families,
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this quickly-changing situation together. We continue to receive guidance from local/state health department officials regarding COVID-19 and today, the USD 470 leadership team met to discuss ways in which the district can help protect our students, staff, and community.
After much consideration, school is canceled for March 16-20, 2020. This closure affects ALL school-related activities including: after school program, athletic/activity practices, competitions, performances, and other events.
Anyone who has recently traveled to COVID-19 high-impact areas or out of the country are asked to provide information to the City-Cowley County Health Department. The local health department has asked that anyone who has recently traveled to/from California, Florida, New York or Washington to self-isolate for 14 days. Information, questions and inquiries should be directed to the county health department.
We all play a role in reducing illness in our schools and community. Please help these efforts by staying informed and practicing healthy habits such as:
Washing your hands regularly, especially after using the restroom and before preparing or consuming food. Use soap and hot water and wash for about 20 seconds. Be sure to lather and scrub all hand surfaces including fingertips and nails.
Avoiding coughing or sneezing into your hands or in the air. Always try to cough or sneeze into a tissue, and immediately throw the tissue away. If you don’t have a tissue, cough/sneeze into your elbow.
As much as you can, avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose.
Practicing social distancing as much as possible.
Additional information and helpful resources are located on our website at www.usd470.com/coronavirus. Please continue to monitor the local health department’s website too - http://www.cowleycounty.org/health. We will continue to update you as needed.
