Early Literacy Initiative

The Ark City Early Literacy Coalition is a partnership of community stakeholders dedicated to creating equitable learning environments that support literacy development in children ages birth through third grade.  The coalition will collaborate to strategically advance initiatives and supports in three areas of focus:

  • School Readiness
  • Family Engagement
  • Community Literacy Enrichment

Work is funded by the Kansas Health Foundation Communities Supporting Early Literacy grant. A direct link exists between higher levels of educational attainment, better health outcomes, and a greater overall quality of life.  Impacting this relationship starts when children are very young.
