Last month, the entire USD 470 staff participated in Engage AC, a professional development event planned and hosted by a committee of the district’s own teachers, administrators, and staff members.
Ann Headrick, ACMS Academic Coach and Engage AC Committee Member, said the event was geared toward making connections with students and finding new and interesting ways to engage them.
“Engage AC was a full day, without students, to recharge and refuel,” Ann Headrick, ACMS Academic Coach and Engage AC Committee Member said. “It was about conversation, creativity, and inspiration. Ultimately, it was about making a difference for students.”
The committee worked to provide attendees with a true conference experience, including a keynote speaker, breakout sessions, and prizes.
ACE Funds of Legacy Regional Community Foundation helped make that possible by awarding a $350 grant to the cause. The grant money was used to purchase prizes such as Bluetooth speakers, a sound bar, and Makey-Makey kits.
“We’re grateful for the ACE Fund Foundation’s generosity and the members’ continued support of our students and staff,” Headrick said.
