Bond Information
On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Arkansas City voters will consider two school bond propositions. The projects focus on improving safety, addressing aging facilities, and supporting student learning.
What's on the Ballot
How Does a 2-Question Ballot Work?
Voters will see two separate questions (propositions) on the ballot:
- If BOTH question 1 and 2 receive majority approval, both will pass.
- If ONLY question 1 is approved, the middle school and district-wide improvements will move forward, but the early childhood center will not.
- If question 1 is NOT approved, Proposition 2 cannot pass even if it receives majority approval.
Financial Impact
- Current mill levy (2024-25): 7.27 mills – the 2008 bonds will be fully paid off Sept. 1, 2025, which allows the mill levy to drop to 0.00 mills for 2025-26
- Proposition 1 only: Estimated 11.35 mills (NO increase compared to the 2023-24 rate)
- Propositions 1 and 2 together: Estimated 14.55 mills (Increase of 3.08 mills compared to the 2023-24 rate)
- State Aid covers 30% of repayment, reducing the local burden by about $21 million over the life of the bond
