Interpreter/Translation Services
Title VI requires schools to adequately communicate with limited English proficient (LEP) parents about important school-related information in languages they can understand. The Office For Civil Rrights has sought to ensure that limited English proficiency is not an obstacle for students or their LEP parents to access educational opportunities. Access the above document to find out more about the resources available to you in order to meet these federal requirements.
Kansas English Language Proficiency Standards
“On September 11, 2018, the Kansas English Language Profiency Standards (KELP) for English Learners were adopted by the Kansas Board of Education. Beyond understanding common English usage, ELs need to understand the language used for grade-level instruction in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and other content areas. The standards highlight and amplify the critical language, knowledge about language, and skills for using language that are necessary for ELs to be successful in school.” These can be found on the Title III page on the KSDE website. You can access them here as well.
